What is it?

The R600 Intake System

The RacingLine R600 is the best-selling performance intake for MQB platform VAG cars. It replaces the factory airbox with a hand-built UK system using twin CFD-optimised front intakes, an oversized airbox, and a filter rated to 600hp and beyond.

It fits like a factory part, uses all original mounting points, and comes with your choice of filter. On a remapped car it delivers measurable power gains and a noticeably improved induction sound.

Which version fits my car?

The R600 airbox fits all EA888 Gen 3 and Gen 4 MQB cars. The key difference between versions is the turbo inlet elbow and inlet hose, not the airbox itself. There are three versions to choose from.

⚠ Gen 3B MAF cars: check before you order

The EA888 Gen 3B 190ps engine uses a Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) and requires a different version of the R600 intake and turbo inlet hose. Using the standard R600 on a MAF car will cause running issues. To check your car: look for a small sensor with a wiring loom in the intake tract. If it has one, you need the Gen 3B version. Trifoam, Cotton, or Oversock?

Every R600 comes with your choice of filter element. Here's the honest breakdown so you can pick the right one for how you use your car.

Trifoam Filter

The highest airflow option. Airflow barely drops as it loads with dust, making it the choice for heavily modified or track-used cars.

Note: requires regular cleaning and reoiling. If neglected, performance will drop off.

Fit and forget

Pleated Cotton

A robust, long-lasting filter that needs no maintenance. Excellent flow when new and a massive surface area. The right choice for most road cars.

Honest caveat: doesn't have quite the same dust-loading capacity as Trifoam over time, though for most road cars this makes no practical difference.

Cotton + Oversock

A foam oversock slides over the cotton filter and takes the dust loading instead of the cotton. Our recommendation for most road cars.

Carbon Fibre Lid

The R600 is available with an optional carbon fibre lid replacing the standard plastic cover. Purely cosmetic but looks excellent in a tidy engine bay. Available in two finishes.

Understated and purposeful. The matte finish suits cleaner, more subtle engine bay builds.
