Audi left a lot on the table with the 8V S3. The IS38 turbo and Siemens SIMOS 18.1 ECU are specced well beyond what the factory calibration asks of them, which is why this platform gives such big gains from software alone.
A healthy standard car makes around 300 to 310bhp on our dyno. A custom Stage 1 file takes that to 350 to 370bhp and 380 to 400ft/lb with nothing else changed. That's a 50 to 70bhp gain for the price of a remap.
Where you notice it is the mid range. From 2,500rpm the car simply picks up and goes in a way it never did standard, and it holds that pull right through to the limiter. S tronic customers regularly report 3.5 to 3.6 second 0 to 60 times when the engine and gearbox are tuned together.
What's included
Fully custom file written for your car, not an off the shelf map.
Every dyno booking gets before and after power runs and a printout.
What you need
99 RON fuel is required. A Racingline R600 intake is recommended to get the most from the file, though it isn't essential at this stage.
Manual gearbox owners: the standard clutch can start slipping at Stage 1 torque levels under hard acceleration. Budget for a Sachs Performance clutch sooner rather than later.
Worth knowing on early cars
Pre-facelift IS38 turbos (roughly 2014 to 2016) had a known issue with the electronic wastegate actuator seizing, and it happens on standard cars too. If yours is an early one, it's worth checking the turbo's condition before you tune it. We'll flag anything we spot on the dyno.
Fitment
Audi S3 8V, 2.0 TFSI EA888 Gen 3, pre-facelift and facelift, GPF and non GPF. Works on 6 speed manual, DQ250 and DQ381 S tronic.
Two ways to get it done
Book in at our Coventry workshop for a full custom dyno tune on our 4WD rolling road, or take the Flash At Home option and we'll send you a WP-Flasher device to load the file yourself wherever you are.
If you have datalogging equipment, we can check the file and make adjustments from your logs.
