Got a 2022 or newer Golf R, GTI, S3 or Cupra and been told your gearbox can't be tuned? This is the fix.
From early 2022, VW Group started fitting the DQ381 DSG with a locked "401" bootloader. It blocks any gearbox tuning over OBD, so you can't raise clutch clamping pressure to match a Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap, or add better shift and launch features.
We unlock it in house at our Coventry workshop. The TCU is unlocked via direct programming, and from then on it can be flashed over OBD like any older car. You don't need a replacement control board.

- Bench unlock of your DQ381 TCU
- Full backup of your original gearbox software
- Fault code check before and after
What it isn't
The unlock on its own doesn't change how the car drives. It opens the gearbox up for tuning. Once it's unlocked, we can fit our own custom DSG calibration, a RacingLine OEM+ DSG tune, or an APR DSG tune, on the same visit. If you've already had an ECU remap, a DSG tune is what lets the gearbox handle the extra torque properly.

- Skoda: Octavia vRS 2.0 TSI
