MK4 Focus ST — Complete Clutch & Flywheel Upgrade Kit
The stock clutch on the MK4 Focus ST is a known weak point on tuned cars. Even at Stage 1, the increased torque from the 2.3 EcoBoost can overwhelm the factory clutch — causing slip under hard acceleration, particularly in higher gears at full boost. It's the most commonly reported issue on tuned MK4 STs, and it gets worse as the clutch wears.
This complete kit gives you everything you need in one box — no sourcing individual parts, no compatibility guesswork.
What's in the kit:
- Genuine Ford MK3 Focus RS clutch plate & pressure plate — rated for 345bhp / 441Nm from the factory, comfortably handling Stage 1 and Stage 2 torque levels
- Genuine Ford MK3 Focus RS slave cylinder — metal construction, replacing the ST's weaker plastic unit
- Genuine Ford MK4 Focus ST dual mass flywheel & bolts — brand new replacement for your existing flywheel
The RS clutch has a higher clamp force than the standard ST unit, meaning it handles the increased torque from a remap without slipping — while retaining smooth, OEM-like pedal feel. No aggressive bite, no on/off engagement, no compromises for daily driving. The metal RS slave cylinder is more robust than the plastic ST unit and should always be replaced at the same time as the clutch.
We include a new flywheel because if you're already paying for the labour to drop the gearbox, fitting a fresh flywheel at the same time is a no-brainer. Also if the previous clutch has slipped even slightly, it will have glazed the surface of the flywheel and the replacement clutch won't bed into it properly.
A worn dual mass flywheel causes judder, vibration and rough engagement — starting fresh ensures everything works as it should.
Fits: MK4 / MK4.5 Focus ST 2.3 EcoBoost (manual gearbox)
When to upgrade:
We strongly recommend fitting this kit at Stage 1 and above. If you're already experiencing slip — loss of drive under full boost, a burning smell after hard driving, or judder when pulling away — the stock clutch is done and this is the solution.
Even if your clutch feels fine right now, fitting the upgrade at the same time as your remap saves you the labour cost of doing it later when it inevitably slips.
