The MK7 Golf R responds to a Stage 1 remap better than almost anything else we tune. VW specced the hardware generously, so the IS38 turbo and Siemens SIMOS 18.1 ECU have plenty left in them from the factory.
A healthy standard car makes around 300 to 310bhp on our dyno. After a custom Stage 1 file you're looking at 350 to 370bhp and 380 to 400ft/lb, with no hardware changes required. That's a 50 to 70bhp gain from software alone.
The mid range is where you feel it most. The car pulls harder everywhere, but the shove between 2,500 and 5,000rpm is a different car entirely. DSG customers regularly report 3.5 to 3.6 second 0 to 60 times with our engine and DSG tune together.
What's included
Fully custom file written for your car, not an off the shelf map.
Every dyno booking gets before and after power runs and a printout.
What you need
99 RON fuel is required. A Racingline R600 intake is recommended to get the most from the file, though it isn't essential at this stage.
Manual gearbox owners: the standard clutch can start slipping at Stage 1 torque levels under hard acceleration. Budget for a Sachs Performance clutch sooner rather than later.
Fitment
MK7 and MK7.5 Golf R, 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen 3, GPF and non GPF. Works on 6 speed manual, DQ250 and DQ381 DSG.
Two ways to get it done
Book in at our Coventry workshop for a full custom dyno tune on our 4WD rolling road, or take the Flash At Home option and we'll send WP-Flasher device to load the file yourself wherever you are.
If you have datalogging equipment, we can check and adjust from datalogs taken
