The 8Y S3 shares the same EA888 Gen 4 engine and Continental turbocharger as the MK8 Golf R — and it responds to tuning just as dramatically. With a full recalibration of boost pressure, ignition timing, fuelling and wastegate control, we extract 390–400bhp and up to 530Nm from the standard engine. That's approximately 80bhp over Audi's quoted figure on a completely standard car with the OPF in place.
The factory calibration is very conservative — Audi quotes 333PS but these cars consistently dyno at 340–345bhp. There's an enormous amount of performance locked away in the Simos 19 ECU, and a Stage 1 remap is the most effective way to unlock it. The Continental turbo has significant headroom to spare at this level.
We strongly recommend pairing this with our DSG calibration (available as an add-on). The factory clutch torque limits on the DQ381 are too low for the increased output — without raised limits, the clutches will slip.
