It's not always about big power.

Not every car that comes through the door is a hot hatch or a track car. This BMW 118i 1.5L was in with us for a straightforward custom remap, no hardware changes, just software.
The owner wasn't chasing headlines or big numbers. They just wanted the car to feel a bit more alive day to day, and honestly that's one of the best reasons to get a car tuned.
The starting point
Stock figures on the dyno came in at 136hp and 162ft-lb, which is about where you'd expect for this engine.
It's a small three-cylinder turbo, and while it does the job as standard, there's definitely room for improvement in how it delivers its power. A bit flat in places, a bit lazy to respond, and generally just adequate rather than enjoyable.
What we did
Software only on this one. No intake, no exhaust, no hardware changes at all. Just our own custom calibration applied to the factory ECU.
The results
Tuned: 188hp / 220ft-lb
That's a gain of 52hp and 58ft-lb from software alone. On paper it's not a number that's going to turn heads, but on a car this size and weight you genuinely feel it.
The throttle response is sharper, there's noticeably more pull through the midrange, and it just feels like a more complete car to drive.

Does it make sense to remap an everyday car?
This is a question we get quite a lot. People assume remapping is only for performance cars, or that there's no point unless you've already fitted a load of parts.
The reality is that most factory calibrations are very conservative. Manufacturers have to account for fuel quality variations, emissions targets, and the lowest common denominator across every market they sell the car in. There's almost always headroom in there that can be safely and reliably extracted with a proper calibration.
For a car like the 118i, the gains translate directly into a better driving experience. It's not about lap times, it's about the car just feeling better every time you use it.
Thinking about getting your car tuned?
Whether it's a daily driver or a weekend toy, the approach is the same. We tune every car individually to get the best out of what's there.
