Fiesta ST180 Induction Kit Buying Guide
Our quick recommendations
Which is the best induction kit for the Fiesta ST180?
Our overall recommendation is the
AIRTEC Stage 3 induction kit
.
Unlike simpler induction kits that replace only the filter and upper intake section,
the AIRTEC Stage 3 replaces the complete intake tract from the turbocharger through
to the air filter.
This includes the larger crossover pipe and turbo-inlet section, reducing restrictions
throughout the complete system rather than improving only one part of the intake.
It is suitable for standard-turbo cars but is particularly worthwhile for S280,
hybrid-turbo and higher-powered builds requiring the greatest possible airflow.
Which Fiesta ST180 induction kit offers the best value?
The
Forge Motorsport intake
offers the best balance of price, performance and sound.
It replaces the restrictive standard airbox with an open-cone filter, an uprated
MAF housing and a heat shield.
For a standard, Stage 1 or normal Stage 2 road car, it provides the main airflow
and induction-sound benefits customers are looking for without the additional cost
of replacing the complete intake tract.
What is the best intake for a standard or Stage 1 Fiesta ST180?
For a standard or Stage 1 Fiesta ST180, we recommend either the
AIRTEC Stage 2 induction kit
or the
Forge Motorsport intake
.
The two kits are similar in concept. Both replace the standard airbox with a
performance filter, MAF housing and heat shield, producing improved airflow and
considerably more turbo and induction noise.
Either is more than capable of supporting a normal Stage 1 or Stage 2
standard-turbo setup.
Is the AIRTEC Stage 2 or Forge intake better?
In performance terms, there is not a substantial difference between the
AIRTEC Stage 2 induction kit
and the
Forge Motorsport intake
.
Both provide an open-cone air-filter setup, an uprated MAF fitting and a heat shield.
The best choice will normally depend on price, preferred appearance, availability
and which manufacturer the customer prefers.
The AIRTEC kit is available with different silicone-hose colours, while the Forge
system has its own distinctive heat-shield and intake design.
What makes the AIRTEC Stage 3 intake different?
The
AIRTEC Stage 3 induction kit
goes considerably further than the Stage 2 or Forge systems.
In addition to replacing the air filter, MAF housing and heat shield, it also
replaces the crossover pipe and restrictive turbo-inlet section.
This creates a larger and more consistent intake path from the air filter through
to the turbocharger.
It is our preferred option for higher-powered builds, hybrid turbos and customers
who want to upgrade the entire intake system in one installation.
What is the AIRTEC RS-style intake?
The
AIRTEC RS-style 76 mm intake
uses a large upper intake pipe inspired by the layout and appearance of the Focus RS
intake system.
Its main attraction is its appearance. The large pipe and prominent filter create
a particularly aggressive-looking engine bay.
In outright performance, it should work very similarly to the normal AIRTEC Stage 3
intake. The choice between them is therefore largely based on appearance and the
layout the customer prefers.
Both are suitable for standard-turbo cars, S280 conversions and hybrid-turbo builds.
What intake is best for an S280 or hybrid turbo?
For an S280 or hybrid-turbo Fiesta ST180, we recommend replacing the complete intake
tract rather than fitting only a filter and heat shield.
Choose either the
AIRTEC Stage 3 induction kit
or the
AIRTEC RS-style 76 mm intake
.
These systems replace more of the restrictive factory pipework and provide the
additional airflow capacity required as turbocharger demand increases.
Is the turbo-induction elbow worth upgrading?
Yes. The standard turbo-induction elbow is narrow and can become a restriction in
the final section of the intake before the turbocharger.
Replacing it with the larger
AIRTEC turbo-induction elbow
improves the airflow path into the turbo.
Based on our experience, this component can contribute approximately 2–5 bhp,
depending on the vehicle's existing intake, turbocharger and ECU calibration.
It is worthwhile even on a standard-turbo car, although it is already included as
part of a complete Stage 3 intake setup.
How much power can a Fiesta ST180 induction kit add?
On a tuned Fiesta ST180, a suitable induction kit can typically contribute
approximately 5–10 bhp compared with the standard airbox.
The exact improvement will depend on the intake fitted, turbocharger, intercooler,
exhaust system, ambient conditions and ECU calibration.
An intake should therefore be considered part of the overall tuning package rather
than a guaranteed standalone power increase.
Does an induction kit require a remap?
No. A remap is not required simply because an induction kit has been fitted.
The car can be driven safely on its existing software after installing any of the
intake systems in this collection.
However, suitable ECU tuning is recommended if you want to obtain the maximum
performance benefit from the increased airflow.

How much louder will the turbo and induction sound be?
Open-cone induction kits produce a substantial increase in turbocharger and induction
noise compared with the standard airbox.
Customers should expect to hear more turbo spool, airflow noise and recirculation-valve
sound when lifting off the accelerator.
This change in sound is one of the main reasons many owners choose an open-cone intake,
even on otherwise standard or lightly modified cars.
Do open-cone intakes suffer from heat soak?
In our own testing, we have not seen open-cone intake temperatures cause a noticeable
loss in power across repeated dyno runs.
Each of the main intake kits includes a heat shield designed to separate the filter
from the hottest parts of the engine bay.
On the Fiesta ST180, the intercooler normally becomes heat-soaked before the intake
system causes a measurable performance problem.
A suitable upgraded intercooler remains the more important modification for controlling
intake temperatures on tuned and hard-driven cars.
Are the Fiesta ST180 induction kits difficult to fit?
The AIRTEC Stage 2 and Forge intake kits are generally straightforward installations
for someone with basic mechanical knowledge and a suitable set of tools.
The AIRTEC Stage 3 and RS-style systems are more involved because they replace
additional pipework between the filter and the turbocharger.
All hose connections, clamps and MAF fittings should be checked carefully before the
car is driven. Any intake leak after the MAF sensor can cause poor running or incorrect
airflow readings.
Do these intakes fit both the ST180 and ST200?
Yes. The main induction kits listed in this collection are suitable for both the
MK7 Fiesta ST180 and ST200 where stated in the individual product listing.
Always check the product description and selected options before ordering, particularly
when choosing hose colours, filter options or clearance products.
What are the clearance intake kits?
The collection may also contain clearance versions of the AIRTEC Stage 2 and Forge
Motorsport intake kits.
These are returned or clearance items and may have damaged packaging, signs of previous
handling or other minor imperfections described in the individual listing.
Availability is limited, so customers should read the product description and condition
information carefully before ordering.
